The TCS Amsterdam Marathon is famous for its exceptionally flat and fast course, making it one of the best marathons in Europe for achieving personal bests. Starting and finishing at the iconic Olympic Stadium, the route takes runners through vibrant neighbourhoods and alongside the Amstel River, with minimal elevation changes throughout. The flat terrain, combined with scenic urban and riverside views, offers an ideal setting for both competitive runners and those aiming to enjoy a comfortable, steady pace.
Course highlights include Rijksmuseum, Amstel, Vondelpark, scenic views of Dutch countryside and windmills, excellent organisation and atmosphere.
TRAVEL INFORMATION
Getting to Amsterdam
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS): The main international gateway to the Netherlands and one of Europe’s busiest hubs. Located just 15 km from central Amsterdam.
• Train: Frequent trains run directly from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Central Station every 10–15 minutes. The journey takes around 15–20 minutes and costs approximately €5–€7.
• Bus: Airport Express Bus 397 connects Schiphol with Museumplein and Leidseplein in about 30–40 minutes, ideal if you’re staying near these areas.
• Taxi: Taxis and ride-hailing services such as Uber are available outside arrivals. The trip to the city centre takes 25–30 minutes and typically costs €40–€55, depending on traffic.
Getting around Amsterdam:
• Metro & Tram: Amsterdam’s public transport network, operated by GVB, is reliable and efficient. The metro and tram systems connect key neighbourhoods, attractions, and transport hubs.
• Bike: Cycling is one of the most popular ways to get around Amsterdam. Bike hire is widely available, and dedicated cycle lanes make it a safe, fast, and enjoyable way to explore the city.
• Taxi: Taxis are widely available but more expensive than public transport. Uber and other ride-hailing services offer a convenient alternative for short journeys.

Itinerary
DAY 1 – ARRIVE IN AMSTERDAM
On arrival to Amsterdam, please make your own way to your chosen hotel, where a Sports Tours International rep will welcome you and be available throughout your trip to assist with any queries.
In the evening, we invite you to join our group of runners for complimentary welcome drinks. This is a great opportunity to meet the Sports Tours team and socialise with fellow runners.
DAY 2 – 5km SHAKEOUT RUN & SIGHTSEEING TOUR
In the morning, join Sports Tours International’s 5KM Amsterdam Marathon shakeout run, followed by a scenic canal boat sightseeing tour. This is the perfect way to prepare for the big day and then indulge in Amsterdam’s history and culture. Your Sports Tours rep will escort you to the meeting point.
Later in the day, we will have a pre-race briefing to go over race day logistics, ease any nerves and address your questions. After, we will then guide you to the Amsterdam Marathon expo to collect your race bib.
Afterwards, you’re free to explore the expo and the city before race day preparations.
DAY 3 – TCS AMSTERDAM MARATHON
Sports Tours International will arrange an early breakfast on race day, included in your package. Then after your Sports Tours rep will escort you to the Amsterdam Marathon start line, where you will join thousands, ready to take on the historic TCS Amsterdam Marathon 2026.
Keep a look out for the Sports Tours International cheer zone, where we will be cheering for all our runners throughout the race.
In the evening, join us for post-race celebrations and toast to your achievement with your fellow runners and Sports Tours team.
DAY 4 – DEPARTURE day
Please check out of your hotel at the scheduled time and proceed with your onward travel arrangements.
