The Gran Fondo Nove Colli is one of the oldest mass participation events, for amateur cyclists, in the world. The race takes place in Cesenatico, on the Italian Adriatic Coast, on the roads that Marco Pantani used to train on, in his youth. The 2020 edition is extra special as, not only is it the 50th edition of the race, but the 2020 Giro d’Italia will dedicate a stage to this special cycling event this year. The Gran Fondo Nove Colli will effectively therefore become what the Etape du Tour is for the Tour de France. Amateur riders, and fans, can watch the riders of the Giro d’Italia tackle the 9 hills, on Stage 12 of the Corsa Rosa on Thursday 21st May, on what will be a 205 km CESENATICO to CESENATICO stage. Then, just 3 days later, on Sunday 24th May, the lucky riders who manage to get an entry, can take on the same course as the riders of the Giro, and ride their own Nove Colli.

The event is tough with a distance of 205 km to be conquered, and 3800 metres of climbing scaling, you have guessed it, 9 hills. The shorter 130 km distance takes you across 4 of these hills.
