The Final Stage of the Tour de France

Due to the high profile of the last day and of course its setting in the very centre of Paris, the final stage is prestigious. The overall General Classification is usually decided before the final stage but winning on the Champs-Élysées is a glorious feat. Sometimes the points classification and the green jersey winner is decided on the final day. When the riders reach central Paris, they enter the Champs-Élysées via the Rue de Rivoli on to the Place de la Concorde and then the Champs-Élysées itself. The riders will do a total of 8 laps on a circuit which goes from the Arc de Triomphe, down the Champs-Élysées, round Les Tuilleries and the Louvre and across the Place de la Concorde back to the Champs-Élysées.

After watching the final sprint and the jersey presentations, it’s just a short walk along the Champs-Élysées back to our hotel.

Madrid and the finish of the Vuelta a Espana

Three weeks of intense, emotional racing come to an end in Madrid. This final, spectacular stage, takes place on an urban circuit that allows you to discover the many wonders and the festive atmosphere that the Spanish capital has to offer. Come and celebrate the final kilometres of this mythical race with the cyclists in ideally placed areas. This year, the riders will cross the finish-line for the first time at around 7 pm and again for the last time at around 8:30 pm. The hotel Gran Melia Fenix is conveniently located in the centre of Madrid for you to enjoy the finish of the 2018 Vuelta a Espana which keeps with its traditional finish in Madrid. As in previous years and like the final day of the Tour de France in Paris, the finish will be in the evening.

The Final Stage of the Vuelta a Espana

The riders of the Vuelta a Espana will race the 5.9 kilometre circuit in the city centre of Madrid 9 times. The circuit is flat and easy but the speed will be an incredible sight to witness. In 2017, Alberto Contador was allowed to enter the circuit slightly ahead of the other riders and he was cheered and applaused by his home crowd.

As in Paris, we can expect a bunch sprint in Madrid. Previous winners in Madrid are Matteo Trentin (2017), Magnus Cort Nielsen (2016), John Degenkolb (2015 and 2012), Michael Matthews (2013), Peter Sagan (2011), and Tyler Farrar (2010).
