Our team participated in the Bee in the city sponsor challenge!

101 Bees have been placed along a specially designed trail, running the length and breadth of the city, in one of the most spectacular public art events the city has ever seen. Each Bee has been designed by a different artist and celebrates the unique buzz of Manchester, from its industrial heritage to its vibrant music scene.

Team Sports Tours International ready to go!

Yesterday, all of the companies who have sponsored a Bee were invited to Manchester Central to compete in the Bee in the City sponsor challenge.

The rules stated that teams of five had to get to as many of the Bees as possible in 2 hours 6 minutes, by any means possible. In order for the teams to prove that they had visited each one, they needed to tweet a picture of at least four team members alongside the Bee using the #bitcsponsorchallenge. Amazingly 30 teams entered the race so there was a lot of people ‘buzzing’ around Manchester to try get their photos taken.

Obviously, given our sporting heritage, Team Sports Tours International’s way of getting around Manchester had to be on our own two feet only! Therefore, our team ran 13.5km around the city having our photos taken with 61 of the 101 Bees! This was good enough for 2nd place out of the 30 businesses who participated. Well done team!

The Bee in the City trail launched on 23rd July and will run for nine weeks, the route includes famous landmarks, cultural hotspots, and some of the city’s undiscovered gems. You can visit our very own Sports Tours International Bee at the Etihad campus. The Sports Tours International Bee is named ‘Mo’ in remembrance of a wonderful woman, Mo Done, who was an inspirational, great Salfordian, a supporter of many Manchester charities and an integral part of Sports Tours International’s business. The Bee itself will become synonymous with the businesses new charitable initiative ‘Running Bee Foundation’ which will donate funds from its organised running events to communities across Manchester and the North West, created to promote health and wellbeing and the fight against childhood obesity.
