HOW TO TRAIN FOR YOUR SPRING MARATHON DURING THE WINTER MONTHS: WITH OUR AMBASSADORS!
Earlier this week members of our team at Sports Tours International, Club La Santa UK & Ireland, Sports Travel International, and The Running Bee Foundation participated in the 2.6 challenge to help raise money for charities close to their hearts.
With the Virgin Money London Marathon being postponed, from April 26th to October 4th, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, charities have missed out on millions of pounds of fundraising money, as this particular marathon is the biggest one day fundraiser in the world. The 2019 edition of the race raised over £66 million for charity alone! The idea of the 2.6 challenge is to get as many people as possible active and doing exercise for charity, with a 2.6 theme. This could be anything from 2.6 minutes of exercise to 2.6 hours, 2.6 miles (indoor our outdoor), or even 2.6 times around your garden. The initiative aims to encourage people to do their exercise on April 26th (which would be the original marathon day) and get sponsored, or donate money to a charity of their choice, to help an effort to raise £67 million. More information can be found here
As we wanted to inspire others to get active and take part, we decided to take the challenge a few days early. We all got our 2.6 in this week. It seems we’re all getting used to exercising at home now and with more and more people relying on different ways to communicate, we thought we’d combine the two. Here’s our 2.6 minutes of exercise, which we did together on a zoom call. You can watch our video below!
So, if you want to get involved, or if you’re struggling for inspiration as to what exercise to do you can head to https://www.twopointsixchallenge.co.uk/ where there’s some great ideas to help you.
