Healthy Cooking Tips
Exercise is important for your physical health, fitness and general health. But what you eat is also an important part of maintaining good general health.

With a busy schedule, cooking individual meals each and every night can be a tiresome and a time-consuming job.
Why not try batch cooking? Batch cooking is a great way to save money, eat healthier and eat the right amount of food for you.
Oils and fats, you use for cooking and baking are often high in saturated fat and calories. Therefore, it’s important to only eat a small amount – one tablespoon of oil is enough to feed a family of four!
You could also try swapping to a spray oil like fry light as this will help control the amount of oil you use within your cooking – as one spray of fry light contains just 1 calorie!
It is important to always choose an unsaturated oil like rapeseed or vegetable oil and avoid those high in saturated fat like coconut or palm oil.
It’s not just what we use to cook our foods but the ways we cook them that can determine their effect on our overall health.
For example, it’s long been known that fried foods are unhealthy and can lead to severe health problems when eaten in excess. Instead of frying you could try grilling, baking or steaming your favourite foods to help cut back on the unnecessary fat content.
Cooking as a family is a fantastic way to get the kids involved!
It’s likely to encourage them to eat as healthily as you do and will teach them how to enjoy and prepare healthy and nutritious meals. At ABL, we encourage all of our clients to eat healthily as part of their weight loss journey.
