Introducing #teamsportstours – Meet our new Sports Tours Ambassadors!

We are incredibly excited to announce the launch of our brand-new Ambassador programme.

Over the coming months we will be sharing the inspirational stories of five new ambassadors as we support them on their journey to complete all six Abbott Word Marathon Majors.

Each ambassador champions the physical and mental health benefits of an active lifestyle, particularly through running – values that are at the heart of our business. They also reflect the incredible ambition of each and every one of our customers – ordinary people taking on extraordinary challenges.

Our ambassadors will not only help us shine a light on what it means to take part in an event with Sports Tours, but we hope will inspire others to take on their own challenge – whether that’s embarking on a Six-Star journey, or training for their very first running event.

We are excited to welcome Raj, Sally, Craig, Dann and Jade to #TeamSportsTours and can’t wait to share their full stories over the coming weeks. Until then, here’s a brief introduction.

Regular runner Raj is no stranger to the Abbott World Marathon Majors, completing the London Marathon three times, New York twice, as well as Berlin, Boston, and Chicago. Not stopping there, Raj is taking to the Big Apple this November for the third time, leaving him with only Tokyo left to tick off his bucket list before achieving his well-deserved Six-Star finishers medal next year.

Completing her first half marathon and marathon at 53, Sally is an advocate for running later in life after battling the menopause. Sally aims to inspire older women who enjoy running, and reinforce the message that women are capable of achieving big goals and challenges, no matter what stage of your life you are in. Currently, Sally is half way there to achieving her Six-Star Medal, completing three of the World Marathon Majors.

After suffering from both a stroke and heart attack, caused by obesity, Craig resorted to running in order to change his life. Now, Craig is the fittest that he’s ever been, completing multiple half marathons, full marathons, and ultra-marathons, and is half way to his Six Stars, achieving impressive sub four-hour times on each World Marathon Major so far.

After dropping 5 stone 2lbs and being named Slimming World’s Mr Sleek in 2018, Dann turned his life around through drastically changing his diet and adapting a much healthier and active lifestyle. Dann completed his sixth marathon this year in Manchester, finally breaking the four-hour barrier, and has now decided to set himself the even greater challenge of completing the six World Marathon Majors, starting with Chicago this October.

For Jade, getting into running marked the start of an incredibly meaningful and personal journey. In 2018 she lost the ability to walk and breathe on her own after spending two weeks in a coma. The road to recovery from serious illness hasn’t always been smooth, but she hasn’t let that define her or hold her back and is on a mission to complete all six World Marathon Majors after competing in her first half marathon in 2021.
