Join 16,000 cyclists on the astounding 19th stage of the route between Albertville and La Plagne. Consisting of 131km, 4,500m of ascent and five daunting climbs in the Alps, this will be an unmissable event. Soak up the dazzling mountain views on this remarkable race and be part of the legacy during the 33rd running of this bucket-list event!
The 2025 route breakdown
Adrenaline will be pumping from the get-go as the mass peloton begins an intimidating ascent through côte d’Héry-sur-Ugine. Riders then continue to the Col des Saisies for an 11.3km climb – a historical section of the route which has featured in the Tour de France 15 times between 1979 and 2023. Descending through Beaufort, the base of the Cormet de Roselend, and the daunting Col du Pré – the incline will increase to an average of 7.7% and up to 12% as the peak approaches.
Riders will be feeling the burn coming on to the Chapelle de Roselend, down to Bourg Saint-Maurice, and on to the final 19km climb – a punishing ascent to La Plagne with an average gradient of 7.2%.

An overview
As you prepare mind and body for the Etape, find out what to expect on race day. Riders will be grouped together according to ability, riding under similar conditions to the pros on closed roads. The physically demanding route will be monitored by a time scheduled car and ‘broom wagon’ at the back of the race. This ensures local traffic can re-enter the closed course immediately after the race. If you are overtaken by the car, you will be eliminated, but you will get a scenic ride to the finish with your bike in the broom wagon!
