HOW TO TRAIN FOR YOUR SPRING MARATHON DURING THE WINTER MONTHS: WITH OUR AMBASSADORS!
Berlin is the perfect city break for those looking for an electrifying nightlife, rich history, exquisite cuisine, world famous beer and some of the most remarkable sights in the world. Of course, every September the BMW Berlin Marathon makes its grand return and people from all around the world travel to experience the world-famous super course that is part of the Abbott World Marathon Major series. This is a city that many of our runners want to explore further, therefore, we have complied our top places to visit with the help of our ambassadors!
It’s rich history
Berlin has a deep history, as a past Soviet State every corner of the city has its own story. Our ambassador Raj ran the Berlin Marathon back in 2017 and recommends visiting the Bundestag building. The building’s roof terrace and glass dome offer spectacular views of the parliamentary and government district and Berlins stunning sights.
An abundance of sights and museums
Berlin has plenty of museums and iconic landmarks to satisfy those eager to see the magic of Berlin before or after the Marathon. Gendarmenmarkt is one of Berlin’s most beautiful attractions. It is also located in the city close to Berlin’s exclusive shopping street in the central Mitt District including the Berlin concert hall.
For families travelling to Berlin, our ambassador Yimmy recommends the Studio of Wonders at the Berlin Mall. It’s an amusing, immersive experience for kids (and adults!) with lots of upside-down rooms and ball pits, a great opportunity for a fun social media post.
See the city from incredible heights
Our ambassador Yimmy recommends the Fernsehturm (TV tower) which offers a panoramic view of Berlin and is instantly recognisable from a distance as it stands out of the skyline. Yimmy also mentioned the Berlin Victory Column, which is the perfect spot for a Medal Monday photo.
Word famous beer and incredible cuisine
Our ambassador Sally ran the Berlin Marathon in 2021 and happened to gain a PB after eating at ‘Focaccino’ the night before. It is a brilliant Italian restaurant, in the middle of Charlottenburg with homemade pizza and fresh Sicilian cuisine!
Germans pride themselves on drinking excellent beer, especially Berliners. That’s why we are throwing an exclusive after-party in the heart of Berlin at Hofbrau Berlin to celebrate our runners’ incredible achievements. Featuring excellent drinks and food, live music (Schuhplattler, yodelling, alphorn players and more!). We can’t wait to see you all at the 2023 BMW-Berlin Marathon!
